About my Bible blocks

The Bible block collection has begun!   At this early stage I thought I'd explain a little about what I'm doing.

As long as I've been quilting, I've planned on doing a Bible quilt.   I love samplers and I love patchwork and vintage stuff.  I much prefer "the old paths" (Jer 6:16) to modern stuff and that runs the gamut from furniture and appliances to quilts (I draw the line at vintage clothing).  If I can't have vintage (or antique), then I'll take antique reproductions.  My Dad used to make antique reproduction furniture out of pine and I've taken the building and refinishing concepts that he used with furniture and am starting to adapt them to quilting.

Bible blocks have been around for a long time.  The ones I'll be posting are public domain and rather than run a quilt along or sell a BOM, I'm simply going to build a central repository of Bible block patterns.  I'll be begin by posting the first thirty blocks in the Bible Block Wedding Sampler quilt that I'll be making and if you'd like to quilt along with me, you're more than welcome to. Every month I'll be posting the cutting instructions and tutorials to at least one and hopefully two blocks.  I've given the fabric requirements for six, twelve and thirty block samplers here.  You can choose your own fabrics as well as your own sewing timeline.

You can post your photos right here.  Simply join the site and "Photos" is the third tab from the left on the navbar.

There are other Bible block programs currently online.   One of them is Jan Patek's BOM for a quilt based on Harriet Powers' Bible quilt.  The other is a Women of the Bible BOM that is sold by Stitchin' Heaven.  As a central repository, there'll be no charge for the block patterns I post.  I'm just passing them along to others.
